Theresa Maria DiCioccio

Theresa “Tree” DiCioccio (nee Cipolla), 93 of Media, PA died peacefully at home on December 10, 2020. Tree was born in Lansdowne, PA to the late Gaetano and Maria (DiCarlo) Cipolla, and was raised in Primos and Clifton Heights. She married Mario DiCioccio who died in 2000 and together they moved to Drexel Hill where they raised their four children. Tree lived in Drexel Hill for over 50 years before moving to Media to live with her daughter Terry. Tree was avid fan of opera and she loved cooking and baking. She often combined the two by spending Saturdays in the kitchen listening to her extensive opera collection and the Metropolitan Opera broadcasts. Tree’s passion for cooking and baking was equally matched by her joy of feeding her family and all family friends. Tree was close to her siblings (all having predeceased her): Anna Dezio, John Cipolla, Rita David, Ellen “Chickie” Jusczak, and Gaetano “Tot” Cipolla. Two of her siblings Giovanni and Josephine Cipolla both died when Tree was a child. Tree enjoyed spending time with her siblings; especially her sisters who frequently attended Mass together, visited each other and worked together for the Sacred Heart Pierogi drive. She also enjoyed having get-togethers, lunches and dinners with her many nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren. When not involved in family matters, Tree worked outside the home and distinguished herself in print media. She served as the Real Estate Classified Ad Manager for the Evening and Sunday Bulletin before becoming the Classified Manager for the Delaware County Daily and Sunday Times. There, she led the Classified group and was was instrumental in their change of format from broad sheet to tabloid and the addition of a Sunday edition. At the Delaware County Daily Times, Tree also consulted with other newspapers in the Ingersall chain to establish and optimize their Classified Ad departments. Tree retired in 1989 and kept in close touch with many of her former employees and co-workers for lunches and special celebrations. Tree is survived by her four children: Therese Coyle and partner Mike Davis of Media, PA; Mario (Chris) DiCioccio and wife Stacy Green of Narberth, PA; Patricia (Trish) Gallagher and husband Ed of Media, PA; and Joseph DiCioccio and wife Debbie of Glen Riddle, PA. She is survived by her 9 adoring grandchildren: Jenna Coyle and husband Robb Matthews, Adam Coyle and wife Casey, Lucas DiCioccio, Jackie Murphy and partner Cooper Wallace, Chris Murphy and wife Katie Perna, Matt Gallagher, Joseph DiCioccio and wife Lisa, Justin DiCioccio and Amanda DiCioccio. She is also survived by one great-grandchild, Joseph Pasquale DiCioccio who she was most happy to meet earlier this year. Tree’s internment will be private. We hope to have a celebration of her life in the summer of 2021 near or under some beautiful trees.
