Richard H. Doyle

Richard “Rick/PopPop” Doyle, 87, passed away peacefully after a short but courageous battle with leukemia. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank Doyle and Dorothy (Rouse) Doyle. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Virginia (Ransom) Doyle; his children, Christopher (Christina), Scott, Jeffrey (Stacey), and Kevin (Christy); his cherished grandchildren, Connor, Riley, Gavin, Trevor, Owen, Logan, and Parker; his sister, Lois (Bill) Boose; his sister-in-law, Patricia Ransom; and many cousins. Rick was a graduate of Abington High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Penn State University and proudly served in the Naval Air Reserves. His career began as a management trainee with Mutual Life Insurance Company, after which he joined an accounting firm, became a Certified Public Accountant, and eventually a partner. Today, that firm is known as Doyle and McDonnell, located in Broomall. Rick had a deep love for his work and remained dedicated to his profession until his retirement at the end of 2025. Rick had many interests, including gardening, hiking, collecting rocks, traveling, and walking along the beach in Strathmere. He was an avid Philadelphia Flyers fan and a season ticket holder for 40 years. A devoted member of his community, Rick was heavily involved in volunteer work. He was a member of the Jaycees, the Marple Newtown Tiger Foundation, the Marple Business and Professional Organization, and served on the board of the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology where he received the Volunteer of the year award for 2025. He generously volunteered his time and talents as treasurer for all of these organizations. Rick was a very involved father who coached his sons’ Little League teams and the Haverford Hawks ice hockey teams, where he also served as treasurer. He was a board member and an integral part of running the Flyers Cup. When he wasn’t coaching, he could be found in the stands, cheering on his boys and their teammates. Later, he could be seen at all his grandchildren's sporting and school events. He especially cherished time spent at the beach with his family, creating lasting memories. Rick loved teaching his sons and grandchildren how to search for shells and sea creatures along the shoreline, sharing his appreciation and knowledge of marine life with anyone who joined him on his walks. A man of deep faith, Rick was a devoted member of Church of the Redeemer, where he attended church regularly and served in many capacities, of course, treasurer being one. Despite his many commitments, he was always willing to offer guidance and answer tax questions for anyone who sought his advice. Rick touched many lives with his generosity and kind nature. Above all, he lived for the family he loved so much. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all those who knew and loved him.
