Percival E. Tomlinson

Percival Everett Tomlinson, affectionately known to many as “Tom,” passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025, at the age of 85, surrounded by his loving family. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Tom was a proud resident of Philadelphia and a native of Jamaica. Born to the late Clementina Grant and David Tomlinson, Percival began his working life as a dedicated bus driver with the Jamaica Omnibus Service. In 1986, he immigrated to the United States in pursuit of new opportunities, eventually settling in Philadelphia. He later joined the Scully Group as a Building Maintenance Technician at the Imperial Towers Apartment Complex, where he faithfully served for 25 years before retiring. Tom was known for his boundless energy, warm spirit, and magnetic personality. A true people person, he loved spending time with family and friends, dancing to his favorite Caribbean Soca music, and sharing the flavors of his heritage through his renowned Jerk Chicken and signature rum punch. Always generous with his time and talents, Tom was quick to lend a helping hand and was cherished by all who knew him. He is survived by his devoted wife, Fay Tomlinson; his beloved children, Percival Junior Tomlinson, Juliet Ranger, Jacqueline Scott, Maurice (Ingrid) Tomlinson (from his marriage), Claudette (Michael) Downer, Neville Tomlinson, and Odette (Richard) Cousins; his cherished grandchildren, Stacy-Ann, O’Brian, Kevin (Jennifer), Ryan (Denver), Spencer, Shaun, Devonie, Danielle, Kole, and Rianna; and great-grandchildren, Carter, Omari T, Cherish, O’mari R, and Selene. He is also survived by his loving siblings, Richard, Alice, Caroline, Sandra, Marcia T, Frank, Sylvia, Rueben, Marcia G, several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Preceded in death by siblings, Vivian, John, Clive and Carl. Tom’s legacy of love, kindness, and laughter will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched.
