Florence J. Lesko

Florence was born in Chester, Pennsylvania, to the late Thomas and Mary (nee Lastowka) Nowak. She is survived by her daughter Marianne (John) Perfetti and her son, Tommy (Cathy) Lesko, her four grandchildren; Jack Lesko, Danielle, Britt, and John Perfetti, Jr. Florence was predeceased by her loving husband Edward Lesko, Sr., dedicated son, Edward Lesko, Jr., parents Thomas and Mary Nowak, and sister, Frances (nee Nowak) Nichols. Florence was part of a very loving family who shared many special holidays. She told many stories about growing up with her colorful cousins, aunts, and uncles. She was a favorite of many. Marianne, Florence’s only daughter, was indeed her best friend. Florence was not only a music lover, but also a talented pianist, violinist, and singer. Her kids would tell you that with a smile on their faces. They remember their cheerful mom waking them up on sleepy mornings vigorously singing and playing "Rise and Shine" on the living room piano. That piano was one of the staples of the household. She encouraged all her kids to take an interest in playing musical instruments. Her son Tommy fondly recalls the two of them sharing a piano bench playing "Love Me Tender" by Elvis Presley—Tommy on the piano and Florence on the violin. Florence's passion for education was immense. After Graduating with top honors at Immaculata University Florence became an Elementary School Teacher and later earned her Master's Degree in Education from Widner University. Many of her students have shared how much they enjoyed having her as their teacher. Reading was her passion. Impressively, Florence kept a log of well over one thousand novels she had read. Florence loved to play table games. Whether it was Scrabble or cards she simply loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. Her family will tell you that she was "pleasantly competitive" and holds the family record for the highest score in Scrabble. Besides table games, Florence enjoyed playing volleyball and swimming. The Jersey Shore was where the Lesko family vacationed. While her children were growing up, the family had a summer place in Sea View, NJ. She loved to body surf and simply float past the waves. Ask anyone who knew Florence. She would always put herself last as she had a heart of gold. Florence was a beloved volunteer at Taylor Hospital for over a decade. She truly believed there was more good in this world than bad and was an eternal optimist. She will be forever cherished by all who knew and loved her. Services & Interment will be held privately
