Conley Benfield Jr.

Conley Benfield Jr., age 87 of Media, formerly of Secane, (born in Valdese North Carolina) passed away on February 12, 2023 leaving his loved ones for a far more peaceful place. Conley was a devoted husband, loving father and caring friend to many. It’s difficult to sum up in a few sentences his many creative talents that he used in his career working at NFL films and Tel-Ra Productions (college sports film). Those same talents aided him in running his own post production film company for many years, until video took over the film industry. His great love of sports was passed on to numerous generations through his 30 year coaching career for the Clifton Heights Boys Club (football) and PAL (baseball). Many lives were touched by his guidance and knowledge of the game. Conley was a Southern Baptist who, in his early 20’s, chose to convert to Catholicism. This led to his many years as a practicing member and volunteer in the St. Eugene’s Church community. His legacy continues through his equally talented grandchildren, Madison Wood, Zachary, Matthew , and Andrew Turner; daughters, Cathy Ann Wood (Brian Egan) and Cyndy Turner (Ray); wife and caregiver of 15 years, Kitty McFarland; step-children; Joanne Czajczynski- Ryder (Sean), Carl Czajczynski (Sheri); step-grandchildren, Jay Czajczynski (Paige), Carly, Kara and Ania Czajczynski; brother, Ray Benfield (Carolyn); and in- laws, Marie and Dick Welch and Ann Brockwell (Cliff Semmot). Conley is also survived by many nieces and nephews especially his eldest and closest niece Sherry Thomas (Ray). Predeceased by his late wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Benfield; son, Joseph Benfield; sisters, Betty Benfield and Edna Lowman; and mother Maggie Benfield.
