Raymond S. Lambert Sr.

Raymond S. Lambert, 95 Raymond S. Lambert, born March 3, 1917, went into glory to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ June 19, 2012. He was born in Queens, New York to Howard Greenwood and Ella Holmes Lambert. His older brother Howard B. Lambert preceded him in death in 1972. Ray attended Upper Darby High School and later completed classes at Kellet Drafting School and Drexel Institute. He married Margaret H. Lambert in 1940. During World War II Ray was employed at Kellett Aircraft Corporation in their sheet metal division, he also served in the U.S. Coast Guard Port Security Force at Philadelphia. Along with his father and brother he served in the U.S. Army at Fort Bragg. After military service during WW II and following in his father’s leading Ray developed as a successful entrepreneurial businessman and salesman. He 1947 initiated a long and successful career as a realtor in Springfield with L. Henry LeBaron Real Estate and continued his career in 1957 as realtor-broker to become owner of Carl H. Schmidt Realtors while also being owner of the family based Universal Solvent Company. He was an active member of the Delaware County Board of Realtors, Springfield Rotary, and the American Legion Post 227. Ray had a joy for the outdoors as exemplified by providing his family with a shore-side cabin at Lake Wallenpaupack. He started bicycling later in life than most, and had a talent in wood carving and photography. He enjoyed flying with friends and later developed an interest and skill in hot air ballooning. In 1999 he reluctantly retired at the age of 82 but continued to love the people and town of Springfield. In 2009 Ray became a resident at Plush Mills Senior Living Wallingford, PA where he was known as Uncle Ray. Since May 2012 thenbecame a resident at Crozer Keystone Hospice at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park. He was a dedicated member and servant at C. C. Hancock United Methodist Church. Ray had professed saving faith in Jesus as his Savior and Lord. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret H. Lambert and is survived by his daughters June McCormack of Collingdale, PA and Elizabeth Lambert of Cape May, NJ, and son Raymond Lambert, Jr. of Hummelstown, PA, 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. A memorial service and private interment are planned by the family for a future date.
