In Loving Memory of Frank P. Pflieger, Born in the heart of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Frank P. Pflieger, was a lifelong resident of Springfield, PA, where he built a legacy of love, dedication, and unwavering service. Born on February 11, 1930, and recently departing this world at the age of 93 on October 4, 2023, Frank's journey was one that touched the lives of many. Frank's life was marked by his deep and enduring love for his beloved wife, Nancy, to whom he was married for an incredible 63 years. Their love story served as an inspiration to all who knew them, and her passing before him only made his journey home more poignant. A graduate of Springfield High School, Frank embarked on a life of service and commitment from an early age. Immediately after graduation, he answered the call of his nation and enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served with honor and distinction from 1951 to 1955. His time in the Air Force was marked by numerous commendations, including the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, before returning to the United States. Upon completing his military service, Frank continued to pursue his dreams, furthering his education and earning a degree in electrical drafting. His dedication to lifelong learning and his work ethic were unparalleled. In addition to his professional life, Frank selflessly served as a volunteer firefighter for Springfield Township Fire Company for over six decades. He demonstrated extraordinary bravery and sacrifice in countless emergency situations, making a profound impact on the safety of his community. His enduring commitment to the fire department stands a testament of his character. Frank was also a dedicated and involved member of his community. He served as the President of the Springfield Grapplers Club, where he inspired and mentored the next generation of athletes. Along with Nancy, he devoted years of his life as a volunteer, working tirelessly at local Election Polling stations, ensuring the democratic process was upheld. Frank's passion extended to his garden, where he spent countless hours nurturing and tending to the beauty that bloomed under his care. His green thumb was a source of pride and joy for him and a sight to behold for all who visited. A devoted member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Springfield, Frank and Nancy worshipped together, finding solace and community within the church's embrace. Together, they raised a beautiful family and were blessed with five children: Kimberle L, Frank R Gary S, and Timothy J and Thomas J. His love and guidance will forever resonate within his family, who cherished his wisdom and support. Frank's legacy lives on through his family, now extended through his eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish the memories of their beloved patriarch. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Frank's name may be made to St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Springfield, allowing his memory to continue to make a positive impact on the church and community he held dear. A memorial service will be conducted to celebrate the lives of Frank, Nancy, and their son Gary, at 10:30 AM on October 26, 2023, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 400 Lynbrook Rd, Springfield, PA. This service will be an opportunity to honor their incredible legacy and the lasting impact they've made on all who were fortunate to know them.
